moose sign

HI the signs were more plentiful than the moose for me. As the pictures are large I will only send 2. Unusal chip dump.
Merry Xmas. Braved the storms and dashed over the mountains to get Ralph and returned in one piece. Got lucky with the storms. And survived the Sacremento multiple highway splits right side or left side exit its a dash if you don't know! Alittle scary.
Merry Christmas
Cheers

HHH Hash Trash 21st December 2007

Twas the Friday before Christmas,
And while feeling quite frail,
I've still sent the usual crap,
Your dose of hash mail.

With the festive season impending like a visit from the mother-in-law, Burnie Hash is taking a week off from its usual schedule. Our next r*n will be a POSH stroll in Burnie on NYE - details next week.

To all our merry band of hashers (few) and closet hashers (legion), particularly our missing Ghanan friends Fab and Back Door, we wish all the best for Christmas and look forward to seeing you back on trail soon.

------
Launceston Hash House Harriers will be celebrating its
30th anniversary with a commemorative run on Thursday 28th February 2008. The run will be set by one of the original Gang of Five members, Neil 'Derbs' Derbyshire at its original location in Legana (Launceston). More details closer to the date.

Those interested should contact GM 'Gloworm' at longnet@clearmail.com.au or 'Ballpoint' at cfschaffer@hotmail.com.

Christmas Trip Notes

Time and distance conspired against the traditional card this year. I am in the United States  visiting family for the Christmas season.
Currently looking forward to Ralph arriving on Wednesday in San Francisco. I may have to wait until Friday before we connect, plans to go and pick him up are slowly sliding under a storm seige, 3 storms in a row. Weather in Reno has been very cold not breaking 30F for over 10 days, rose to 1C or 2C most days after -8/9 C start. I visited a friend in Maine, the north eastern part of the US and joined in the 'leaf peepers' fall tourism influx. Mountain sides covered with patches of red, gold, yellow and green were spectacular.

Managed to see a moose in the wild but it took a lot of looking. Visited many graveyards took photos and captured an 'Orb' at one. 'Orbs' are round balls of light/ colour floating in the picture. Orbs are spirits - ghosts and a red orb is an angry one! You can' see them but cameras and flashes pick them up. Etiquette for visting a cemetary is to ask permission to enter and when leaving it is important to say thank you and tell any active spirits they must remain in the cementary and not follow you out.

Back to Christmas and it is very likely it will be a white one in Reno which will be nice as Reno in winter is predominately brown. Snow from an earlier fall on Dec 7 is still with us, the many hills are frosted in white and look lovely against the brillant blue skies Reno can get in the winter.

After Christmas Ralph and I will be attempting a road trip up to Seattle and maybe Canada, weather will be a factor in this endeavour. We will be away from computers for about 3-4 weeks. I request that emails be delayed until I am active on the computer again.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a grand New Year in 2008 with health and joy abounding.

Merry Christmas

Paula and Ralph (in absentia)

HHH Hash Trash 14th December 2007

You'd better watch out!  You'd better not cry!  You'd better not pout, I'm telling you why…
Satan Claws is coming to town!

As shares in tinsel, fake snow and beer continue their upward trend, Burnie hashers gather underneath the cameltoe for a festive jaunt around Burnie, before exchanging gifts that are, remarkably, nearly all the same.

Santas should gather at King Komm, North Pole, Burnie, for a 5:30pm ho ho.  Bring a plate of Christmas goodies to share and a wrapped gift to the value of $10.

Special appearance by a visiting southern hasher, although on reflection it's not that special.

H5 will be celebrating its 1400th run on Monday 17th December, coinciding with its JMs Christmas Run.

The run starts at 6:30pm from the Hobart Regatta Pavilion, Lower Domain and will cost $30.  The theme is 'mixed fruit' and everyone must bring a $5 pressie for Santa.

HHH Hash Trash 7th December 2007

It's HOFT time again - break out the Al Gore-Tex, fill up your camel toe hydration packs and make sure your medical insurance is up to date, for Dyke - he of the 'lets take the coastal route back to Sisters Beach' - is leading another band of suckers, umm, willing hashers* on a trek from a place unknown to Shearwater, via Morelands Beach and Hawley.
* which excludes those taking blow-up dolls to Hobart for the MRA toy run
I have conflicting information, but the most recent to hand is that everyone is to meet at Dint and Koff's place - Church Street, East Devonport - at 11:00am.

BYO everything - refreshments to be had at Shearwater, before transport back to East Devonport.
