HHH Hash Trash June 29

This Sunday Burnie Hash will again be tagging along with the Hashing Old Fart Trekkers (HOFT) as we traverse the Sisters Hills, from Sisters Beach through to Rocky Cape.

The plan is to meet at the Sisters Beach boat ramp at 8:30am (yes, ay-em as in morning) to arrange a vehicle shuffle to Rocky Cape and return, with the walk proper to start at 10:00am.

The track to Rocky Cape is approximately 12.5km, and if the weather is reasonable there will be further exploration of Rocky Cape including the lighthouse, some caves and beach.

Afterwards we will adjourn to a Wynyard pub for a quick circle and counter tea.

There will not be any Hash Cash taken this week, but BYO everything else.

------

The lovely Tals approaches a milestone, currently sitting on 199 r*ns with Burnie H3. Will it be celebrated with a maelstrom of ground wheat or will it be a polite dusting of superfine white, as befits a Grande Dame?

------

Last chance to put your hand up for a Burnie H3 jacket before we start offering them to the southern hordes (or Vinnies). The jackets are a three-in-one style (zip off sleeves and hood) with a woven nylon outer and fleecy inner (reversible) in royal and dark blue. The cost per jacket is $45. We have limited numbers and sizes, so first in, best dressed (literally).

Message from the Monk!!

In an effort to keep Burnie Hashers dry in their new coats I managed to cause chaos in southern NSW thereby breaking the drought for them. The trouble is I'm not sure how to stop the rain!!! it has followed me ever since!! Downpours in Newcastle and Sydney over the long w/e and another deep low to hit the south coast tonight!! I left a wet Port Macquarie on Monday... rain all the way to Sydney... cleared for me to negotiate that place without too much trouble! More rain that night until the early hours of this morning.... 4" in the Bega area!! Reasonable today even saw the sun!!  I found a dry, sunny spot at Malacoota this afternoon only to be told that a dirty great low is forcast to hit us tonight!! I'd better warn Lakes Entrance that I'll be there tomorrow!!  Ratchets wine is above the high water mark so should be alright!!  Hope to deliver that either this w/e or early next week depending when I can get on the ferry.

HHH Hash Trash June 22

LOST: One daughter, last seen living with new beau in Cooee.

This Sunday we help hare Speed Hump track down her missing daughter, the lovely Miss Fawny Kate, somewhere in the megatropolis of Cooee. The search will start at 3:30pm from 45 Saundridge Road, in Cooee, which may or may not be where she lives. Speed Hump has a number of other houses to send us to if she is wrong.

Bring a hat, mug and joke, plus $10 and change for Knickers’ raid-the-nearest-hasher’s-cellar raffle.

------

‘LOST’: one Hashit

Covered in attractive decoupage of Grizzly, this once magnificent pristine plastic poe was ‘lost’ in a record two minutes while the holder was attending to official business. Very careless.

------

‘LOST’: one pair of Bastard bikie gloves

Still missing and need to be ‘found’ immediately. GM Speed Hump has declared an end to ‘lost property’, except where people actually do leave stuff behind. Things start off as a joke but it’s now one where everyone knows the punchline.

Registrations for the Interhash 2008 Red Dress Run are now open. Cost is $30 with proceeds going to Motor Neurone Research and Princess Margaret Hospital for Children. Go to http://www.interhash2008.com/reddressrun/index.asp for details and registration.

HHH Hash Trash June 15

The shortest day of the year approaches and who does the Trailmaster get to set this Sunday’s trail? Surely not one of the hares who sat in his hot tub while the pack wandered lost in the dark in the Dial Range?

Oh, yes! But rest assured, true believers, for the hare has seen the error of his ways (or at least one of them) and will be setting trail from the relative safety of 6 Adina Court, Penguin. The pack will be called ‘on’ at 3:30pm; bring a hat, mug and joke, plus $10 and change. Bring togs for a dip in the hot tub, or bare the ferret if you feel so inclined.

Home thoughts from abroad.

This 'monking business' is more of an exact science than I had imagined!!

It was just a passing thought on how nice it would be for the Hashers to at least be dry when freezing their bits at Great Lake....five minutes later.... lo and behold 40mm dropped on my head while walking back to base after lunch with Bad Habits!! That was yesterday!!!

Today not a lot better!!! 150 mm in 3 hours at Taree and more forecast for most of NSW... Newcastle is copping a fair bit and there are road closures!!! Aaaaaaaaaaaaand
Bad Habits and Martin are catching a plane from there this evening for a wedding in Melbourne!!! Whoops!! Mother is to blame of course!! At least the farmers are pleased and it's still warm!! I'm sitting on a headland watching whales out to sea and am staying put for the w/e. Too many idiots on the road for me!! I've plenty of Guinness and Truly is happy!!

HHH Hash Trash June 8

Och, aye. The canny hashers of Burnie H3 are kilting up and heading sooth for the annual Highland Fling long weekend. There they will engage in the traditional games of sporran munching and caber tossing, while relaxing in the luxurious Great Lakes Hotel. Details are on the blog site if you wish to chance your arm at a late registration.

There won’t be a local Lowland Fling this year, so if you are not heading to the Lakes you’ll have to endure a hash-free long weekend (or r*n with Devonport on the Monday).

HHH Hash Trash June 1

The intrepid explorers led by the great Bourke and Wills have returned from Winterbrook Falls and this week’s hare Dini is hoping to reprise it, although that could mean cold, wet and lots of slipping over.

Bring a hat, mug, joke and $10 for tucker and grog – extra for rigged raffle wrappings.
