Rumpole run - Belly’s Latrobe
DH3 RUN NO. 2171
Jul 3 2023 – Rumpole, Belly’s Latrobe.
Present -Bald Eagle, Black Tracka, Cheese, Crow, Dint, F.C., Flasher, Guardsvan, Gyno, Hung Lika, Lantern, Laydown, Nez, Ratchet, Rider, Shagadelic, Thrust, Tinsel.
A great run set by the revered Van. Trail ran past Mackey’s pub and skirted around the foothills in the many walking tracks in the area. There was a mercifully short walk for the walkers and something else for the runners. The darkness was no handicap for Hung Lika and Rider and F.C. – The power of a thousand suns shone from the kind Hung Lika’s head. It was a little short for Nez and Laydown who insisted in running another 2 k after getting back to Belly’s. What were they thinking – this is Hash!
The food was good and the beer even better.
Cheese made a welcome return following his bowls adventure.
Crow, ever prepared, came with a fine selection of raffle prizes which were eaten or smashed. The sugary residue from one of the prizes was too much for Crow (as the picture shows). His improvisation with a $10 note was swift!
Several interested hashers made a flying visit to view the progress on Rumpole’s love nest extensions. Looking good!
No Lippery:
On a sad note – another fine hasher from H4 has joined Hash Cloud 9 – Jack Longren (Shonky Long Prong). Shonky was once the owner of the Ocean Child pub in Hobart which remains a popular watering hole for hashers. Some seasoned hashers may remember that Shonky organised a tour for Tas Hash Clubs to Interhash in KL in 1998 (DH3 - Cistern, F.C., Nez, Radish and Yes Please).
I’ve regressed to mention the late “Portholes” who joined Cloud 9 Hash a couple of years ago - see below image.
Private Roger Portlock of Tallangatta, Vic, a soldier of 2 Platoon, A Company, 6th Battalion.
“Never odd or even” is another single by the Palindromes.
