HHH Burnie Hash Trash May 25
One of the most appealing aspects of hashing is getting out and seeing parts of out state that you have would not have visited if not for hash. Taking a leaf from the Hashing Old Fart Trekkers (HOFT) group, this week’s hares, Slack Mac and Tals, are offering up something outside of our normal weekly 45-60 minute trail – a half day walk to Winterbrook Falls in the Leven Valley.
We will be meeting at the Penguin Caravan Park at 9:00am on Sunday 27th May for a 9:30am departure for the start at Smiths Plains.
Being a walk rather than a regular hash trail, you should consider dressing appropriately (warm clothing, waterproof jacket, Tyrolean hat, etc) and carrying some extra gear (medicinal alcohol, gorgonzola to attract sniffer dogs and salted crackers for the leeches, etc.).
Tals and Slack Mac have reconnoitred the track and have declared it fit for HOFTS (Hashing Old Farts Trekking Slowly). It might sound a bit daunting, but if we can handle a Bastard-FC trail in the
If you’re up for something a bit more challenging, either follow Slack Mac or join the HOFT group on their 13.8km trek to Black Bluff, meeting at the Quadrant car park in Ulverstone at 7:45am.
After the walk we will adjourn to a pub in Ulverstone for debriefing and re-hydrating. No hash cash required this week – bring/buy your own everything.
Have completed recce on Sunday’s trek to
Time from Penguin to Smiths Plains car park - 1 Hour. Walk time to Falls - 2 Hours, a very gentle walk via Tramway Track (last 20 minutes a bit uphill).
Lookout - stunning and base of falls fabulous. “More beautiful than approaches to Walls of
Came out via Maxwells Track - 1 1/2 hours easy downhill. Could be comfortably completed by any BHHH member.
Slacko has deliberately explored the only false trail available and he won’t be doing that again!! You’re safe.
I did it in sand-shoes but I recommend boots if you have them as parts of the track are a bit damp underfoot. An ideal walk to try out a trekking pole if you can get hold of one.
Love, Tals
Not an official Hash event, but all-comers are invited to a cracker of a night at Ringo and Dini’s on 26th May. BYO drinks – soup and rolls provided.
There are now only 19 beds left for the Burnie 900th weekend on 4th-5th August. The cost will be $60, which includes two r*ns with circle, badge, accommodation evening meal and cooked breakfast. Bargain! You can e-mail your booking to this e-mail address, but we do need payment prior to the weekend to make sure that we’re not holding empty rooms.

Farewell Fred
Fred, the transexual hash hound and canine companion to Speed Hump, has joined the pack at Cloud Nine H3.
Ever present should a sausage fall from the barbie, Fred had many Burnie r*ns under her collar and will be missed, particularly by Humpy.
A good innings, Fred had been written off several times in recent years but came through to keep on hashing, but eventually needed to retire to the kennel in the sky.

HHH Burnie Hash Trash May 11
There’s no Burnie r*n this Sunday as mother guilt is greater than any JM edict, but there is still plenty of HHH-related news…
The Burnie 900th R*n will be held on the weekend of 4th-5th August and will again be in conjunction with our Wild West Weekend at Waratah. The cost will be $60, which includes two r*ns with circle, badge, accommodation evening meal and cooked breakfast. Bargain! The downside is that there are only 40 beds available, so first in, first served, and the money needs to go to Phay Ray up front.
The Burnie leg of the Global Harriettes R*n on Saturday 7th July (07.07.07) has been moved to a breakfast r*n to allow NW hashers to afro-up for the Combined Hobart Hashers Ball that same evening. More details on the GHR to come. The ball details can be found on both the Burnie (http://www.burniehhh.blogspot.com/) and Trashmania (http://www.tashash.blogspot.com/) blog sites.
In two weeks Burnie hash will be delving into the realm of trekking (Klingons on the starboard bow) with a half-day walk to
Don’t forget the Highland Fling over the June long weekend, which will again be an official Burnie r*n – details on the Trashmania blog.
Details on Burnie next r*n will be posted on the blog as soon as available, but early notice that a 25 r*n milestone will be reached by a certain Dirty Tricks hasher.
