It is with the same good grace that your humble Web Wanker puts aside his differences with the forces of evil (those who think that Burnie r*ns should start early) to announce that this week's tinsel trail is being set by Satan Urang and his Ho Ho Ho Phay Ray starting at 5:00pm from the Burnie Civic Centre car park (southern end).

Holiday season hashers should bring a plate of food to share and a wrapped gift to the value of $7.46. Wear something festering.

I am prepared to offer a Presidential pardon to the rebel leader, in return for her setting this Sunday's Burnie Hash trail from 8 Arthur Street, Ocean Vista (former stable of Furlong). Run starts at 5:30pm. Yes, 5:30pm because I'M back in control and you will do what I say! Mwhahahahahahaha. Ha. Ha ha. *cough*

HHH Hash Trash 04 December 2009

What a big week in hashing it's been. Normal Monday run with H5, Full Moon/Harem on Wednesday, drowned last night with Chardonnay, then off to Bruny Island this weekend for the ultra marathon!

This coming week H5 is off to the wilds of New Town with Hands On, or you can head out to Middle Tree Road for some H4 contemplation with Buddha. Harem's r*n on Wednesday is a secret, but known to be somewhere out off the South Arm Highway. Then on Thursday it'll be Top Deck's virgin hare from her place at Rosetta.

Monday and Thursday runs start at 6:30, whereas gash hash starts at the ladylike time of 7:00pm. No confusion there.

I think that's all I had to relay this week.

Oh, apparently Burnie is running from Dyke's place at 64 Tugrah Rd, Devonport, but that bint from NW has already told you that. Not that I'm complaining. Far be it from me to whinge about being made redundant, let alone changing the start time because some poxy ABC show has finished and now everyone can stay out later even though I tried to do the same thing but kept getting abusive messages from someone I won't mention GONZO about getting it right. Those travelling in 2WD vehicles will need to park at the turnoff and walk the final five kilometres (allow about an hour) along the Kelly Basin Road to the Bird River Bridge. The road follows the alignment of the railway line and so it provides level, easy walking although it can be wet underfoot. Those travelling in 4WD vehicles can drive this final section of Kelly Basin Road. The track is quite narrow in parts so please travel slowly and watch for other vehicles.

It's the early bird that catches the worm and it's the early hasher who catches a ride to the last HOFT* of 2009.

No sleep ins SATURDAY morning, for HOFT-meister GonZo expects her tour party to be at the Bird River Bridge by 10:00am (that equates to about a 7:00am start from Burnie!).

From Queenstown drive south along the sealed Mt Jukes Road for 29 km. At this point the road surface changes to gravel and it becomes the Kelly Basin Road. Follow the Kelly Basin Road for 11 km to the Bird River Bridge turnoff. It will take approximately one hour to travel from Queenstown to this point.

HHH Hash Trash 20 November 2009

One might normally expect hare Ratchet to be readying himself for this Sunday's Burnie hash outing, however word has reached my shell-likes that Ratchet will be far too busy on his ride on metal post munching machine to set trail! So, flushed with the success of her barely grown over virgin hare, the lovely Knickers will be stepping up to the mark. Incroyable!

That's the good news - the bad news is that this leaves Ratchet to try to concoct fizzy pasta without a recipe.

Hashers and leftover pirates should head to 1054 Isandula Rd, Gawler, for a 5:00pm start, even though we all know that it won't start until 5:30pm because nature abhors a vacuum and hash abhors punctuality.

Bring a hat, stuffed parrot, mug ya-ho, and five pieces of gold; bring extra for Captain Chunder unless you want to walk the plank.

Vague.

That's not the mis-spelling of a fashion magazine title, it's the destination of hashers wishing to partake of their routine Sunday Burnie Hash outing.

Head to Guide Falls, Ridgley, and look for signs. Doesn't say what signs; just, you know, signs. Signs of the second cumming. Visible signs of aging. You know, signs.

Vague hares Phay Ray and Urang may be setting trail somewhere around there. The start time's a bit vague too - I keep getting told that it's 5:00pm, but I'm sure it's more like 5:30, or even 6:00. Starting later is the new black. Vogue.

What's not vague is that you should take with you a hat, mug, joke, friend and $10 for food and bucket. Bringing change for the raffle is a bit vague, but then so are the prizes.

I would like to acknowledge that last week's e-mail, which implied Knickers set the trail and the pigs were flying, was not entirely factual. Clearly this was not the case and I apologise to Knickers and to the readership for such a misleading statement. The e-mail should have said that experienced hare Knickers set trail without the assistance of any flying pigs, because they were in trapped in Hades, where they experienced unexpected Arctic conditions.

Aloha!

This weekend is fraught with danger. Never mind that Urang has spent all week trying to recreate a Hawaiian volcano in the pool room or that the hares have set trail over hot coals - the big danger comes from the combination of grass skirts, a fire, and Herr Flick.

Hashers looking for a lei should assemble at the West Mooreville Rd cat/chicken/moose farm this Saturday at 1:30pm for a 2pm start. Afterwards, hashers will don all manner of clothing that looks no different after being vomited on, and dine on Hawaiian cuisine (anything with pineapple added). The night will no doubt finish with a dip in the natural hot springs, although those words may not appear in the correct order.

Then on Sunday (for all those masochists), join 1,000 hashing wanna-bes for the 25th Burnie Ten. Will Mice Boxx-Wanker be there? More importantly, will Dini be there at the half way point? Afterwards, head back to Ringo and Dini's for a wind down and a top up.

HHH Hash Trash 09 October 2009

This Sunday the air will be filled with petrol fumes and the sound of engines roaring to life!

Ordinarily, I'd be referring to the annual 1000km race at Mt Panorama, but in this instance its Knickers mowing the lawns and whipper-snipping the edges, while amazingly somewhere out back little blobs of flour are magically appearing in the form of a trail. I don't know how she does it.

Trail starts from 1054 Isandula Rd, Gawler, at a time not specified to me by the Trailmaster, so I will unilaterally declare that time to be (race due to finish at 4:30pm, catch 15 minutes of highlights before being abused even more, plus ten minutes to get changed, 10 minutes to pack the car, 25 minutes to drive at break-neck speed from West Mooreville Rd to Gawler) 5:30pm.

Bring blue or red hat, mug, joke, friend, chequered flag, and $10 for bucket and fizzy pasta; extra for raffle.

Why did the moon cross the sky?

Our indigenous brothers would say that it's because Yhi (the sun) wants a bit of lunar action wink wink nudge nudge if you know what I mean but Bahloo (moon) is having none of that thank you very much so they chase each other across the sky. Others would say that it's because the moon is strapped to the back of a cosmic chicken, but you can't see the chicken because it's gone to the dark side, but these people can be discounted as loonies. Quite frankly, I couldn't care less. All this crossing here to get to there; why aren't people happy with where they are standing? Big deal, so you're a fish and you crossed the road or you're a fish with feathers and a beak saying 'look at me - a swimming chicken'. You're not fooling me, squid breath.

This week's Burnie Hash coincides with this month's full moon which coincides with the start of daylight saving which is all too late for someone who only had the power reconnected yesterday.

Why did the chicken cross the pool?

Does it need a reason? Why would it want to? Does it think that it's a duck? And who let a chicken in here anyway?

For answers to none of these questions, go no further than Devonport's foremost poultrologist, Dyke, who is holding a seminar on aquatic gallifomes this Sunday starting at 3:30pm from the Devonport Olympic Pool, Steele Street, Devonport. Bring a hat, mug, joke, friend, rubber chicken and $10 plus change.

Hopefully the seminar won't last as long as Professor DoodleDoo's marathon dissertation on pedestrian piscetorians.

Why did the fish cross the road?

Well, clearly the fish couldn't of its own accord.  It'll need an accomplice, probably a chicken.  Or a rooster.  Or maybe a hare.

To watch this menagerie-à-trois, hosted by A Doodle Doo, Burnie hashers should head to Fish Frenzy on the upmarket Burnie waterfront (parking optional) for 3:30pm start.  Bring fish hat, mug, joke, friend, lemon, $10 plus raffle change, and a nice bottle of sauv blanc.

Unless it's raining, of course, in which case the bloody fish can cross the road by itself.

HHH Hash Trash 11 September 2009

Ahhh Chunder, always pushing the boundaries.  Who else would set an invisible trail?

This time he's sending the pack way out west; far wester than any other hare before.

This Sunday's trail is from the Black River Camp Reserve (formerly known as Brickmakers Beach), which is a casual 4.4km stroll west of Port Latta.  Yes, Port Latta.  Not Port of Burnie.  Not the old Port of Cam or even old Port of Wynyard.  Port Latta.

Hare Chunder says 'don't be late and bring spare socks and shoes, for here there be mud.  Shiggy, and lots of it.

Apres hash will be held at a secret location of the public bar type.  Bring coin for a countery and grog.

Us Chardonnay hashers would never put up with such antics!

HHH Hash Trash 09 September 2009

Since 2003, Harriettes have claimed one day as their own by staging special hash events in all corners of the globe when the day, month and year all bear the same number.

This year, Harriettes (joined by some of the ugliest and hairiest women imaginable) will gather in three Tasmanian centres.

In the NW of the state, Burnie H3 will host a frock up from Oakleigh Park in Burnie.  Cost is $15, which covers enough chocolate and champers to get you through menopause.

In Launceston there's a progressive dinner hash, starting at BallPoint's house and finishing in Puss In Boots' bed.  Well, that's where she's finishing.

In Hobart, Tasmania's only all-girl hash club, Hobart Hash Harem, is celebrating its 555^th run from the Marquis of Hastings pub, starting at 7:00pm.  The theme is 999 tu tu 555 and cost is $20.

I see a full moon a-rising.

The seasonally adjusted rising of the September full moon (which appears one day later than it does down south, for some odd reason) will be celebrated by a bunch of Loonies, led by Hare-y mooner B.A. Stard, starting at 7:00pm from the Penguin boat ramp.

With LoonR Hash, Devonport Hash and Global Harriettes all within days of each other, sage JMs Rosemary and Basil have decreed that the LoonR run will also be this week's official Burnie H3 r*n.  That should swell the numbers in Penguin!

HHH Hash Trash 21August 2009

I'm confused.

More confused than I normally am.

I think that this week's trail is being set by Bernie the penguin tracker, but that doesn't quite sound right.  Firstly, I'm unaware of us having a hasher named Bernie.  Nor Bernard.  Could be a pseudonym.

Secondly, why do we need to know his occupation?  Perhaps that's a clue! Perhaps he works for Parks and Wildlife.  Perhaps 'he' is a 'she' and her name is GonZo.  Yes!  GonZo worked with penguins last summer!

So, this week's trail is being set by GonZo, but from where?  It would have to be close to home; somewhere without boat ramps, because we know how confusing they are.  Perhaps somewhere like West Park.

Okay, I'm going to call it.  This week's trail is being set by GonZo from the penguin observation centre at the back of West Park.  'On' is at 3:30pm.  Bring hat, mug, nets, dogs, the plastic bits from six packs, and $10 for food and bucket.

No… wait… GonZo doesn't do barbecues and there's no mention of a pub.  It can't be GonZo.

I give up, I don't know who the penguin Trakka is.  Just turn up, something will happen.

Le Tour de Pisse, she eez starting this Saturday at deu, 'ow you say, 2pm from le chateau du Crow, Oz Rock Inn, Beach Road, Ulverstone.  Tres excitemont!

Le cost iz 198 francs, or in zee currency Australie, $50, which will get you a baguette, some frommage and enough burgundy to make your mouth feel like you've been licking an orses' arrz.
